Project Overview
This project, implemented by Globe Care Foundation with funding sought from Msele Foundation, aims to improve access to equitable Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) services, provide daily meals, and enhance WASH facilities for 50 children at MoyaMunye Neighborhood Care Point (NCP) in the rural Sihhoye community. It addresses the critical issue of limited access to pre-primary education due to poverty, ensuring children get a better start in their formal education journey.
Problem Statement
The Sihhoye community's NCP faces severe infrastructural and operational challenges: an incomplete and insecure building, lack of furniture, teaching aids, and essential facilities like water, toilets, and a proper kitchen. The roof leaks, hygiene standards are poor, and the volunteer caregivers lack adequate training and consistent support, hindering the provision of quality ECCD services.
Proposed Solution Components
- Infrastructure Refurbishment: Complete rehabilitation of the NCP building, kitchen, and storage; construction of VIP toilets; fencing; installation of rainwater harvesting and reconnection of water supply.
- Food and Nutrition: Establishment of a vegetable garden, procurement of supplementary food supplies, and acquisition of kitchen utensils.
- Quality Education: Provision of furniture, educational materials, and recreational equipment; comprehensive training for teachers on ECCD practices, administration, and child safeguarding.
The project leverages strong partnerships with various governmental and non-governmental organizations to ensure comprehensive support and sustainability.
